Blindspot S1 Ep. 9-10 Thoughts

Episode 9 -10 is the first set of episodes of Blindspot that I actually loved which is sad considering the fact that it took 10 episodes until things really started to pick up as far as entertainment quality goes. Episode 9's ending was pretty intense and I do have to admit that as far as story points go, the significance of that scene felt powerful on many levels.

What makes episodes 9 & 10 standout is its fun and thrilling "character/stories of the week". I loved the cool assassins story alongside the villain of the week in episode 9 as well as the spy/espionage heavy approach to 10's plot. It felt as if Blindspot had finally opened up another side of the world worth exploring and I honestly could've stayed in that environment a bit more (perhaps we will). Also, after the first episode, we never really got any action scenes worth smiling over until this episode's well executed two on one fight scene where Jane and Weller had to take down an assassin.

EIther way, this show has been borderline watchable and simply trailing on a "not too bad yet not as good" as it can be considering the premiere's promise of having fun with its protagonist' path. I have to admit that I've been simply going along with the flow never getting completely invested in what's going on simply because there hasn't been much content in the plot and character development worth getting excited for. I feel as though Blindspot definitely has what it takes to be one of television's most intriguing and entertaining mystery thrillers, yet the writers or producers has yet to fully realize the gold mine of an action-pack, highly engaging, and overall fun puzzle piecing story that they've laid the ground work for.

There are certain shows that I've encountered over the years that never fully delivered on its concepts until the last few episodes of the first season. However, I've always felt that they warranted a second or third season due to the amount of fun, excitement, and anticipation that I've had watching it. Blindspot is the first time where I've seen a great future that lies ahead, yet I have a bad feeling for what the overall reception may be towards the end (not sure how it's being received at the moment).

So, even with the praise that I've given towards these past two episodes, I'm not too sure how much of a shelf life this series will have. Honestly, 9 episodes is a bit too much of a stretch to start fully reeling me into what seems to be a fascinating world worth checking out every now and then.

Episode 9 Rating: 9/10
Episode 10 Rating: 8/10

  1. It's awesome to actually read other people's enthusiasm for the show. I actually haven't been hearing much of anything from the people who I know is at least aware that the show exists.
