"Turncoat"
Although I won't be analyzing much from this week's episode in this review, I do want to point out how much I absolutely loved the ending scene showing the Legends team hanging out together with their own Christmas party on the ship. One of the things that I've nitpicked about over the years with live action comic book properties is the lack of character moments showing heroes as people at the end of day without the need for drama or supernatural situations. It's great seeing that component being implemented in this episode as it bonds these characters closer than ever before. I look forward to seeing more moments like these in the future.
As for the episode itself, the Rip Hunter villain twist was handled pretty decently with a couple of dramatic and entertaining moments throughout. The heated relationship between Nathaniel and Amaya felt like a fun new addition to the chemistry of the team as oppose to coming across as a forcefully inserted romantic angle. With George Washington being this week's iconic figure, the historical setting and story had its fun advantages sprinkled throughout (especially with Washington and Mick). With all things considered, this was a solid fun episode overall with a fantastic happy ending that truly sealed the deal for me.
Bonus Content
1. Mick Hilariously Narrates The Intro
2. Atom Vs. Giant Rat
Ridiculous? Yes. However, this is one of those moments where I truly admire this series for stepping outside of its genre boundaries and simply having fun with its larger than life ideas. |
Episode Rating: 8/10
