Legion Notes & Discoveries - Ep. 4

Legion Ep. 4

-Opening Narration by Oliver possibly points to the idea of curiosity and the dangers of it. Red and blue lighting is highly pronounced in the setting.

-Syd's voice is heard yelling "David wake up!" which leads to Syd waking up

-Kerry trains in background while others talk about David

-Painting next to Ptonemy possibly references David's complex mind. This can also be a visual reference to the scene where Syd sees David's mind as a gallery of small TV screens.

-Ptonemy (or Memory Bob Ross as I like to call him) says "Memories are unreliable" "David can make simulated reality" "This is real...I think"

-What if David got rid of an important conversation when destroying the tapes?

-Walter (or Crazy eyes as I like to call him) and Division 3 is briefly shown taking down Syd and crew

-Amy and Dr. Kissinger in blue lit cells. Kissinger says "I haven't seen him since______did you?"
Amy speaks of having a feeling that David had powers this whole time which might explain why she really removed those garden tools from the basement after he broke his lamp. After Amy would ask him who he's talking to, he'd say "King" which is the frequently shown dog's name.
Amy reveals to Kissinger that they never had a dog after Kissinger states that David spoke highly of him in their sessions.

-Red and blue colored panels are shown over David's bed during Syd's memories of him having sex. Red and blue is a heavily spotlighted color in this episode.

-Syd sees Angriest boy creature after thinking about David's sexual flashback. The monster makes another appearance while she rides the bus.

-Origin story revealed about Kerry's connection to Cary. Their voices and even hands intertwine during narrated flashback. Syd asks Kerry what it feels like for her regarding her situation which is ironic given the concept of being someone else's living creation. This idea drives forward the idea of David having "living creations" (or multiple personalities) on the show. Kerry only ages when outside of Cary's body. Cary wonders what happens to her when he dies which foreshadows the episode's ending.

"X"-like design on the front? No? Maybe?

-Diving suit man appears to Melanie and is revealed to be her husband, Oliver, who is currently in a cryogenic room.

-David hears "Unannounced visitor" in his comatose world and sees the diving suit man. After hilarious acknowledgment, Oliver (the diving suit man) tells him to follow him. Oliver takes David to his place which is revealed to be the setting from the opening scene. Oliver has been there for a while and things tend to "drift" as he puts it. Oliver also says that David can make the place whatever he wants it to be (going along the idea of how immense David's abilities are aside from them being in his own mind). Oliver tells David that he went too far back inside of his mind to the Astro plane and is trapped there.

-The devil with the yellow eyes can be seen struggling to get to David through Oliver's place.

-David's body gestures when attempting to channel his powers directly references Professor X's iconic pose from the comics and films.

-Oliver says to David that he is "Like a DOG trying to chew off his own tail". He also states that David's monster cannot get to him in that place and the creature tries to make him forget.
Oliver says that he knew a Melanie once. He tells David that the monster is waiting for him outside and is a parasite instead of a psychological metaphor. Oliver tells David "Remember. It's not real unless you make it real".

-Ptonemy looks into Philly's memory during mission and discovers that Dr. Pool was a part of Philly and David's past. Philly mentions to Pool that David had a beagle named Archie (King), but doesn't have any pictures of the dog or anything whatsoever connecting to his past.

-Philly tells Syd that she thought she could fix David, but he went off his medication. He had a friend named Benny/Lenny who was his drug pusher friend. Philly tells Syd to let David know "They're watching". Ptonemy theorizes that someone replaced Benny with Lenny in David's mind.

-Philly's earrings are the same design as the looping circles in David's subconscious leading into Oliver's "safe place" as well as Kerry's belt.

-Kerry likes to fight and constantly craves the action. She says "This would be an awesome place for a fight. Helicopters are coming in. Ninjas on fast ropes" with a grin on her face. This possibly foreshadows Division 3's later ambush and her fate.

-Syd contemplates about who is real between Lenny and Benny or are they one of the same and/or simply an illusion. This coincides with the Kerry/Cary spotlight during the episode.

-Octopus-like figure is shown in the background of Ptonemy and Syd. This figure can also be seen behind David earlier during his child formed memory.

-Pool talks of Benny having a negative effect on David's treatment which can easily be connected to Lenny's influence on David.

-"What did the stars say?" is a frequently brought up question on the show. With David's history surrounding astrology to a degree, I found it interesting that giant stars could be seen on the wall during Division 3's ambush. There's also the drawing of what it looks to be a rocket ship behind Pool/Walter.

-Pool turned out to be Walter leading to the Division 3 attack teased earlier. It is here where we finally get to see Walter's powers in action.

-Kerry fights off soldiers transitioning to Cary's physical reactions to her movements. Kerry is eventually shot by Walter which leads to Cary feeling the impact. Not only was this foreshadowed earlier during his statement about death, but this can also be a foreshadow for Syd's powerful bond to David.

-Syd switches out with Walter for a brief time. This might lead to some particularly interesting effects in the coming episodes considering his mysterious powers.

-David confronts Lenny in the Astro plane and Lenny is revealed to be connected to (or is) the devil with the yellow eyes. Lenny is shown besides David with the yellow eyed devil's hands. This displays a sense of symbiotic relationship which Lenny alluded to in the Astral plane through her desperate need of escaping with him.
